Away from the clamors of urban life, Mumbai-based boutique hotel group Saj Hotels has recently inaugurated its latest property, Saj in the Forest, set amidst the woods of Pench National Park in Madhya Pradesh.

The Backwater Safari is set in a secret location of the most incredible vistas, says the hotel

The hotel says that of its most unique experiences, the Backwater Safari is set in a secret location of the most incredible vistas while through the Jungle Safari, visitors can experience the mighty wilderness of Pench. The resort adds that among its many attractions is also the well-known sunsets, offering pleasant views outside the luxurious rooms surrounded by age-old trees.

“We are committed to curating indigenous experiences for our guests and it is a moment of immense pride to see Saj in the Forest finally come to life. Our experiences are thoughtfully curated and hospitality heartfelt. We bring luxury and holistic experiences under one roof amidst a natural, bio-diverse environment,” says Karna Timbadia, Director, Saj Hotels.

The statement adds that Saj in the Forest is a tribute to wildlife photography that captures the flora and fauna of the National Park within the lens of the camera. The statement says that there is a beautiful exhibit of wildlife and nature photographs, where the photographs on display can be bought and help promote local art.

The three categories of rooms, says the resort, is inspired by and named after three of the landmark tree species of Mahua, Palash, and Sal that thrive in the forests of Pench. The walls of the resort have the depiction of Gond Art, a popular art form of Madhya Pradesh while the backgrounds promote local photography. The resort is designed to weave in the indigenous feel of the destination combining its calm and serenity, says the statement.

It adds that the menu at its in-house multi-cuisine restaurant Maati Baani has a speciality for Indian ingredients and cuisines, while also serving up a delightful array of international options. Guests can  also indulge in a variety of activities for a blend of excitement and serenity, catering to both nature enthusiasts and leisure seekers.

There is also a designated playing area for children, outdoor & indoor sports activities to keep them engaged, the statement says. On their trail towards the forest, children are educated about different stones and their history along with a broad guide on how to create different setups that are inspired by nature.

The hotel offers numerous activities for the guests besides the Backwater Safari and Jungle Safari.

The guests can also visit Pachdhar, a village of around 100 families of Kumhaars or potters where they can try their hand at pottery either on the wheel or moulding by hand.

Another experience worth trying is the visit to Kohka Lake and the eponymous village where they can enjoy a drive atop the embankment of the dam itself before ending at a home where to see how the locals live.

Guests can also opt for dining under the stars or go for night photography in the forests to track and sight rare-to-spot species like the Indian Wolf and Jungle Cat, among others.

Besides, attending cultural activities and festivals of the Gonds, the original inhabitants of this land, is another enriching experience as is motor paragliding and air balloon rides available near the resort.
