Welcome to the January issue of our monthly video-magazine, ‘Colours of India’ and wish you all a very halcyon new year. As the new year starts a 52-week journey, we introduce you to some newer hues of the country. It opens up with the Incredible India strategy in Europe through an exclusive interview with BB Mukherjee, Director of India Tourism, based in Paris. We then take you to an exuberant Kolkata, West Bengal, during Christmas, where the locals passionately celebrate the festival and indulge in seasonal specialties. Extending our stay in the city, we soak in the fervour of the CIty of Joy at the Royal Calcutta Turf Club, to explore India’s oldest race course and experience the New Year Derby. Moving on to the west coast, we visit Adalaj ki vav, a five-story stepwell in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, with an awe-inspiring Indo-Islamic architecture. We are then back in suburban Kolkata to light a candle at the Bandel Church, built by the Portuguese colonisers centuries ago. Finally, we head to Madhya Pradesh in central India to celebrate Jal Mahotsav, a water festival on the banks of Narmada River, offering adventure and water sports, cultural shows and a perfect weekend escapade.

Happy viewing.
