The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) presented its Economic Survey of India 2017 in New Delhi. MIG TV interviewed OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría who hailed India’s recent growth rates of more than 7 percent annually as the strongest among G20 countries, thanks to a strong economic reform momentum, up to the Goods and Services Tax which will soon be introduced. The survey points out the need to make income and property taxes more growth-friendly and redistributive and to achieve strong and balanced regional development in order to promote inclusive growth. Angel Gurría talks to MIG TV about key topics such as the recent demonetisation drive conducted by the Indian government, financial education and inclusiveness, the need to develop public financial resources to improve universal access to core public services and the need to clean up the banking system.
