Embraer secures firm order for 6 A-29 Super Tucano Aircraft
Embraer has announced a firm order for six A-29 Super Tucano light attack and advanced trainer aircraft in a development that the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer calls a strategic move underscoring the global demand for its versatile, reliable, and cost-effective military aircraft.
In a press statement, Embraer says that while the customer remains undisclosed, the deal is significant in solidifying the Super Tucano’s position as the leading aircraft in its category.
Embraer says that the order, which will be added to the company’s fourth-quarter 2024 backlog, is slated for delivery in 2026.
It adds that these aircraft will be equipped with enhanced capabilities to perform missions such as battlefield air interdiction, close air support, maritime patrol, maritime strike and other territorial defence operations.
Embraer says the A-29 Super Tucano is the global leader in its category, with over 290 orders and 570,000 flight hours, including 60,000 in combat.
It adds that in 2024, new sales were announced to the Portuguese, Uruguayan and Paraguayan Air Forces.
The statement adds that the A-29 Super Tucano’s multi-mission capabilities offer versatility for armed reconnaissance, close air support, light attack, and advanced training, enhancing its availability and flexibility. Its robust airframe also enables operations from unpaved runways in austere environments.
“We are thrilled to announce new sales of the A-29 Super Tucano, as we see this aircraft as the right fit for many nations around the world. The A-29 is the global leader in its category because it’s a proven, reliable, and well-advanced aircraft,” says Bosco da Costa Junior, President & CEO Embraer Defence & Security.
