Marking the expansion of its pilot training programme, Porter Airlines has begun training E195-E2 pilots in Montreal using a newly deployed full-flight simulator (FFS) developed through Embraer CAE Training Services (ECTS), a joint venture between Embraer and CAE.

In a press statement, Porter Airlines says that training began in May 2025 at CAE’s Montreal centre using the CAE-built 7000XR Series FFS equipped with the CAE Prodigy visual system. The simulator was developed and manufactured in Canada.

It adds that the deployment enables Porter to train more pilots closer to home as its fleet continues to grow. The airline has received 46 E195-E2 aircraft to date, with up to 100 expected. The statement adds that comprehensive initial and recurrent training for E2 pilots will be delivered in Montreal.

“This partnership with ECTS brings together three leading aviation organizations. CAE’s expertise in training and simulation technology ensures our pilots receive the highest quality and safety standards for our pilots operating Embraer’s latest E195-E2 model,” says Kent Woodside, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, Porter Airlines.

Porter Airlines says that E2 simulator features CAE’s Prodigy Image Generator, which uses Epic Games’ Unreal Engine to deliver training with photorealistic visuals and enhanced moving models. The system is designed to provide a more immersive training environment.

Canadian airline says that this move supports its operational expansion and contributes to aviation job development in Canada. In addition to the simulator in Montreal, ECTS operates E2 simulators in Singapore and Madrid. It also provides training on Phenom jets through simulators located in Dallas, Las Vegas, Burgess Hill, São Paulo, and Vienna.
