Porter Airlines, a Canadian regional airline, has reached a major milestone with the delivery of its 50th Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, marking a significant moment in one of North America’s most dynamic fleet expansions.
In a press statement, Embraer, a leading Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, says that Porter serves destinations in Canada, the United States and now the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America.
Since receiving its first E2 jet in December 2022, the airline has pursued an ambitious growth strategy, with firm orders for 75 aircraft and purchase rights for an additional 25, potentially bringing its fleet to 100 E2 jets. Embraer adds that the E195-E2 has enabled Porter Airlines to launch 13 new routes this season to popular vacation destinations including Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Nassau, Grand Cayman and Liberia (Costa Rica) from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Hamilton airports.

According to the statement, the E2 aircraft plays a central role in Porter’s strategy to deliver a superior passenger experience, offering features such as no middle seats, premium snacks and beverages served in glassware, onboard wi-fi and seatback power.

Michael Deluce
It adds that the E195-E2 is the largest and most advanced aircraft in Embraer’s E-Jets E2 family, delivering up to 29 pc lower fuel burn than first-generation E-Jets and a range of 3,000 nautical miles. Designed for high-frequency routes, it offers a quiet cabin, 4th generation fly-by-wire avionics and a modern passenger environment suitable for both leisure and business travellers.
“Since Porter’s founding in 2006, we have consistently focused on raising the bar for our passengers by proving that economy flying can and should be pleasurable for everyone. The E2’s introduction into our fleet is allowing us to turbocharge these efforts as the fastest growing airline in North America over the last three years. The aircraft offers an incredible passenger experience and supports our promise as being the only airline in the region with no middle seats for any passenger on any flight. Our story is continuing as we reset the competitive landscape,” says Michael Deluce, President & CEO, Porter Airlines.
