Thales forms joint venture with Indonesian PT Len
Indonesia’s defence capabilities received a significant boost with the signing of agreements between Thales, a key player in defence and electronics, and PT Len Industri to establish a joint venture.
In a press statement, Thales said that this joint venture aligns with the Indonesian government’s long-term “Made-in-Indonesia strategy, and will enhance its sovereign capabilities.
It adds that the joint venture will support Defence industry of Indonesia objective of boosting the utilisation of locally-manufactured components within the industry, thereby enabling Indonesia to export its capabilities worldwide.
Thales says that it will establish a unique centre of excellence to address the Indonesian Air Force’s requirements in air operations and will contribute its extensive expertise in radar technology, facilitating knowledge transfer.
“We are pleased to expand our partnership with Thales and explore further collaboration on these new topics that will bring advanced technology and greater value to the Indonesian defence industry. Through this JV, we can bring PT LEN products to compete in the global market.
