1. Nature all around at Lodi Garden Restaurant

“Tonight I want to have  organic-mediterranean food !” shouted my girlfriend. I decided to empty my pockets and take her to Lodi Garden Restaurant in central Delhi. A place that combines healthy food, luxury and nature. While you can have your meal in their air conditioned room, the garden where many concerts including some nice jazz are played on week-ends, is highly recommended. Here, you will find yourself surrounded by trees and flowers, from one of the most most popular garden (Lodhi Garden) of Delhi. At night, the ambience becomes very romantic when small rounded lamps illuminate the trees around. Provisions such as comfortable couches are provided for couples seeking privacy.

The restaurant also has a good cave of Indian and imported wines. Sangria drink (cold wine with fruits) which particularly well prepared is a must try. Starters range from bruchettas (bread with olive oil, tomatoes and other Mediterranean vegetables) to kebabs platters veg and other non-vegitarian dishes. For main course try their risotto (rice in cream with mushroom and vegetables) and for dessert do not miss the home made fig ice-cream, a must!

2. The typical french ambience at Chérie One-Qutub

“Chérie”, means darling in French. When you enter the restaurant its like you’ve stepped in a museum. Everything is vintage, including the sofa and chairs that are different at every table. With a beautiful view of one of Delhi’s architectural landmark: Qutub Minar, Cherie One, is a restaurant that will take your mind and soul to Europe and precisely to France ! Some of Media India Group’s French journalists say that it actually reminds them of home and the bistrot/café culture. The flowers and the mural decorations resemble of mediterranean styles from the southern region of Provence.

Cherie specializes in European, Italian and Continental cuisines. It is the best place to head if you are fed up with the Indianised Pizzas and Pastas and would want to try these dishes in their authentic form. Other unique signature dishes include the Roquette & Pine Nut Salad and the Drunken Tiramisu.

3. Indian cuisine in a Gothic decor at Veda Restaurant

Veda-Delhi

Its almost impossible to find the Veda restaurant. This tiny restaurant situated in Connaught Place is like a well kept secret. It’s doors are covered with long black curtains. Inside, the red carpet, the black and red walls and the gothic decor takes you straight out of India But, the local food made of Indian specialities reminds you that you are not totally gone ! On the ceiling, beautiful chandeliers add some light to the gothic ambience. The dim lights highlight the big mirrors spread all over the walls. Feel like a king in this gothic style castle and enjoy the local Indian food that can be tailored to your taste if you dont like it too spicy! A perfect place to escape from the busy area that is Connaught place after hours of shopping in its numerous outlets or in the markets around.

4. A perfect brunch at Amour Restaurant

Last sunday, it was my family that I took out for a brunch. Mom and Dad came to visit their lonely son in the city and they were hungry… The speciality of the place is sea food. Try out the lobster, the trout or the prawns, they are particularly well prepared! It’s funny how French words  are often used in India to describe anything romantic or fashionable! Here again “Amour” means love in French. The restaurant is situated in Hauz Khas Village, particularly known for its nightlife. If you come here for dinner you can stretch your evening in the numerous bars and nightclubs around. You will also find a lot foreigners, tourists and young Delhites who come to have a drink, watch a match (especially during the Euro 2016!) or party all night.
