Over the past five years, India has witnessed a transformation in its start-up ecosystem, led, in no small part, by women entrepreneurs. As of 2025, India is home to over 7,000 active women-led start-ups. The number of government-recognised start-ups with at least one-woman director has also surged from just 2,000 in 2017 to over 17,000 by 2024.
This shift is especially visible in the healthcare and technology sectors, where women founders are building powerful, purpose-driven companies.
From fertility tech to AI-powered diagnostics and plant-based wellness solutions, they are solving real problems with empathy, intelligence, and innovation.
