Air India Express adds Jammu & Port Blair to domestic network

According to the press statement, the low-budget airline currently operates over 400 daily flights

Air India Express has announced expansion of its domestic network, launching new routes to Jammu and Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair) starting December 1, 2024. The low-cost airline also introduced a new holiday booking platform, 'Xpress Holidays,' in collaboration with MakeMyTrip.

As part of its domestic expansion plans, Air India Express, an Indian low-cost airline and a subsidiary of Indian flag carrier airline Air India, announced the addition of two new stations, Jammu and Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair) to its domestic network.

Starting December 1, 2024, the domestic budget airline will commence direct flights from Delhi to Jammu and from Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair) to Bengaluru and Kolkata, Air India Express said in a press statement. 

“We are delighted to announce the expansion of our domestic network to Jammu and the Andaman Islands this holiday season. AIX continues to scale up its presence in the domestic India market, on the back of a rapidly growing fleet. We have recently added stations and capacity in the north-east and south, and now offer a compelling pan-India domestic product, besides our large, short haul international, living up to our mission of being new India’s Smart Connector,” says Aloke Singh, Managing Director, Air India Express.

Air India Express, in a statement, says that it will operate 14 flights every week which would directly connect to two domestic destinations including Delhi and Srinagar. Additionally, it would provide one-stop connectivity to nine domestic destinations namely Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune and Surat and three international destination including Bahrain, Dammam, and Muscat.

The domestic budget carrier starting December 1 will operate 21 flights every week, directly connecting to two domestic destinations including Bengaluru and Kolkata and will also offer one-stop connectivity to 15 domestic destinations including Agartala, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Varanasi, Vijayawada along with an international destination, namely, Abu Dhabi.

Air India Express has also introduced ‘Xpress Holidays,’ a platform designed for travellers to book their entire vacation from flights and accommodations to transportation and activities. The service is powered by MakeMyTrip, and offers exclusive deals to travellers booking holidays through the airline’s website.

According to the press statement, the low-budget airline currently operates over 400 daily flights, connecting 35 domestic and 14 international airports. From Delhi, Air India Express operates 307 weekly flights directly connecting to 17 domestic destinations including Ayodhya, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Goa, Guwahati, Gwalior, Indore, Jaipur, Jammu, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Ranchi, Surat, and Srinagar and four international destinations, Bahrain, Dammam, Muscat, and Sharjah.
