Air India Express, a subsidiary of Air India has announced a major expansion of its network becoming the first airline to operate from two airports in the National Capital region (NCR).

In an historic development, Air India Express is set to expand its operations to Ghaziabad’s Hindon Airport, marking the first instance of an airline operating from two airports within the National Capital Region (NCR). In a press statement, the airline says that this strategic move aims to improve connectivity and accessibility for travellers in the region.
Air India Express has announced the operation of 28 weekly direct flights from Hindon to Bengaluru, Goa and Kolkata, with fares starting from INR 5,134. It adds that flight operations are set to begin on August 1, 2024.
Air India Express says that, besides running over 280 flights weekly from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in New Delhi, it will also operate from Hindon Airport, improving connectivity to and from other cities in Western UP, Uttarakhand and Haryana.

It adds that it will also operate two daily return flights from Bengaluru and a daily return flight each from Kolkata and Goa to the Hindon airport.
“Our network expansion is focussed on enhancing connectivity across the rapidly growing domestic and short-haul international market, particularly the new and underserved routes. The maturity and size of major metropolitan areas in India can support secondary airports, spreading the benefits of air connectivity and further stimulating growth. We believe the launch of our flights from Hindon is a pioneering effort towards this direction. It will benefit travellers from an extended catchment area, even beyond Delhi NCR, including Western Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal and Haryana. The new services will complement our operations from the primary airport serving Delhi NCR, providing convenient options,” says Aloke Singh, Managing Director, Air India Express.
