Kumbalangi, Kerala

Kumbalangi, located near Kochi in Kerala, is renowned for its enchanting bioluminescent waters, a natural phenomenon that is caused by bioluminescent microorganisms called the Noctiluca scintillans which create a magical effect in the backwaters at night, where the water glows with a soft blue light when disturbed. 

This captivating display, locally called Kavaru, is most noticeable during the monsoon months of March and April, when the water is rich with plankton.
