Madhya Pradesh would also see the start of a direct international service between Bhopal and Sharjah within two months
Madhya Pradesh has seen the launch of four new direct flights connecting Bhopal, Rewa, Jabalpur, Patna and Kolkata, with Alliance Air operating the services. The routes are aimed at improving air access to the Vindhya and Mahakoshal regions and reducing travel time between the connected cities.
According to a press statement, released by the state government, the new services, launched by Air India Express, a low-cost subsidiary of Air India, include Bhopal-Rewa, Bhopal-Patna, Rewa-Kolkata and Jabalpur-Kolkata. While Bhopal-Rewa flights will operate four days a week, the other three routes will operate three days a week.
According to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, journeys between the connected cities that currently take 12 to 24 hours by road or rail will take around two to two-and-a-half hours by air.

Yadav adds that Madhya Pradesh would also see the start of a direct international service between Bhopal and Sharjah within two months. He says the state had seen launch of services on more than 10 routes over the past two years.
The state currently has eight airports, more than 20 airstrips and 220 helipads. Three new airports have started operations in Rewa, Satna and Datia over the last three years, while airports are also planned in Ujjain and Shivpuri.
The Union Civil Aviation Ministry has approved five new airports in the state, with Singrauli expected to be the first under the plan. The Centre and state government are also examining the possibility of converting around 10 airstrips into airports and developing greenfield airports in some cities.

Yadav says that the new routes would improve access for tourists and businesses while connecting industrial centres such as Rewa and Jabalpur with Kolkata. The state government also said eight new air routes were launched between November 2025 and August 2026, including the Indore-Abu Dhabi service.
K Ram Mohan Naidu, Minister of Union Civil Aviation, says Madhya Pradesh’s civil aviation policy had contributed to the expansion of connectivity and that further work would focus on connecting more cities across the state.
