Thomas Cook India partners with Gen S Life for a webinar to make spiritual journeys easier and safer for the 55+ community
With an eye on the ageing population in the country and the rising number of elder citizens, Thomas Cook India, one of India’s oldest and largest travel companies, has formed a strategic partnership with Gen S Life, a lifestyle and community platform dedicated to individuals over 55 to offer curated travel options.
In a press statement, Thomas Cook says that India’s senior population is experiencing significant growth, with projections estimating that by 2050, the number of individuals aged 60 and above will reach 347 million, constituting 21 pc of the country’s total population.
The statement adds that this demographic shift aligns with findings from the PwC-ASLI Senior Care Report 2024 and the United Nations Population Fund’s 2023 data.
The statement adds that the growth in the elderly population is partly attributed to economic expansion, which has enhanced spending power, and social changes such as the increase in nuclear families, resulting in senior citizens having more disposable income and leisure time.
The travel firm says that recognising the rising demand for travel among the 55 plus age group, it has intensified its focus on this segment. It adds that senior travellers now seek more aspirational and experiential journeys, supported by financial stability and time availability.
To address these needs, Thomas Cook India has formed a strategic partnership with Gen S Life, a lifestyle and community platform dedicated to individuals over 55.
The statement adds that Thomas Cook’s pilgrimage travel offerings include a variety of spiritual circuits across India and Nepal, featuring destinations such as Varanasi, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Mathura, Vrindavan, Bodh Gaya, and Pokhara (Nepal), as well as South Indian cities like Madurai, Tirupati, Rameswaram, and Kanyakumari.
The company emphasises convenience and comfort through guided tours, VIP darshans, air-conditioned vehicle transfers, and aerial Char Dham helicopter journeys, which reduce pilgrimage travel time from the traditional 10 days to four days, thereby minimising travel fatigue.
Moreover, the Pilgrimage Plus portfolio aims to offer a comprehensive holiday experience by integrating spiritual visits with cultural and local explorations such as boating on the Ganges, visits to local artisans, and curated culinary experiences led by experts.
In addition to pilgrimage travel, Thomas Cook plans to launch specialised group tours for senior travellers, including international destinations in Europe. These tours will incorporate elder-friendly hotels, support for special dietary needs, experienced tour managers, entertainment, and easy access vehicles.
It adds that Gen S Life, with over 40,000 downloads and more than 15,000 registered users, supports these efforts by providing a comprehensive ecosystem covering health, wellness, finance, safety, and community services specifically for those aged 55 and above.
