Kerala to host India’s first wedding and MICE Conclave

The conclave will be inaugurated by P A Mohamed Riyas, Tourism and Public Works Minister, Kerala, with over 700 delegates and exhibitors in attendance

Kerala is set to host India's first-ever Wedding and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) Conclave, aiming to position the state as a premier destination for both business events and destination weddings. Organised by Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) in collaboration with the state government, the event will take place from August 14 to 17 in Kochi.

India’s first Wedding and MICE Conclave, organised by Kerala Travel Mart in collaboration with the state government and aiming to give a push to position Kerala as a preferred setting for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) and destination weddings, is set to begin in Kochi tomorrow.

According to a press statement, the event will be inaugurated by P A Mohamed Riyas, Tourism and Public Works Minister, Kerala, with over 700 delegates and exhibitors in attendance. The meet will conclude on August 17.

The statement adds that P Rajeeve, Minister for Industries, Law and Coir, Kerala, will chair the opening ceremony, which will be followed by business meetings, networking sessions and deliberations over the next two days.

Hibi Eden, MP, M Anilkumar, Mayor, Kochi, Suman Billa, Additional Secretary and Director-General, Union Ministry of Tourism, Biju K, Tourism Secretary, Kerala,  Sikha Surendran, Director, Kerala Tourism and Sreedhanya Suresh, Additional Director, as well as Jose Pradeep, President, KTM Society and S Swaminathan, Secretary, KTM Society, will be present during the event.

According to the statement, a total of 610 buyers from within the country and 65 buyers from abroad have registered for the event. Representatives will come from the United Arab Emirates , the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Oman, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Ukraine and Vietnam, adds KTM.

The business meetings will be held from 09:30 to 17:30 on both days. There will be 75 exhibition stalls for sellers. In addition, there will be stalls by KTDC, Kerala Tourism and the Union Ministry of Tourism, says the statement. Two national seminars have also been planned as part of the conclave focussing on the current trends and future vision of this sector, with the participation of international experts in the field.
