Team Maddys Bhavana wins inaugural Tourism Premier League in Kerala

Organisers are exploring plans to expand the tournament in the coming years

24 teams from the tourism and hospitality industry in Kerala participated in the inaugural Tourism Premier League (TPL) that concluded in Kochi after three days of cricket and industry engagement. Teal Maddys Bhavana won the debut title.

The first edition of the Tourism Premier League (TPL) concluded in Kochi after a three-day cricket tournament that saw 24 teams from the tourism and hospitality industry across Kerala compete, highlighting efforts to strengthen connections across the sector. 

In a press statement the organisers says that the event concluded with Team Maddys Bhavana defeating MKTA in the final to win the title. The winning team received a trophy and prize money of INR 50,000, while MKTA was awarded the runners-up trophy and INR 25,000.

The statement adds that the tournament was conceived as a way to strengthen ties within the tourism industry and create opportunities for professionals to interact outside formal business settings.

The tournament was sponsored by Somatheeram Ayurveda Group, with support from CGH Earth, Federal Bank and Poovar Island Resort. Abad Hotels served as the accommodation sponsor, while the Fern Kochi, Series by Marriott, provided food and refreshments.

“The camaraderie shared on the field reflects the collective strength and unwavering passion of the travel fraternity and they remain committed to rebuilding confidence and fostering deeper partnerships, reminding the world that travel will always possess the unique power to unite us across borders. I also thank all the sponsors and the supporters for making this event a grand success,” says Hari KC, President, Association of Professionals of Tourism and of  TPL.

Following the conclusion of the inaugural edition, organisers are exploring plans to expand the tournament in the coming years. Raj , Secretary of TPL, said discussions are underway to develop the event on a franchise model that could include team ownership and player auctions, says the statement.

Raj T, Secretary, TPL says he was excited to share about the plans of transforming this tournament to an IPL model, where there could be franchises and auction of current players, taking it to a whole new level.
