On Valentine’s Day Swiggy Dineout recorded record-breaking spending and a surge in last-minute bookings across India
On Valentine’s Day, Swiggy Dineout, a leading Indian food delivery firm, recorded record-breaking spending and a surge in last-minute bookings across India. A customer in Mumbai spent INR 130,155 on a single bill, marking the highest transaction in the country, while a group of 30 diners in the same city registered the largest single group booking.
In a press statement, Swiggy says that metropolitan hubs continued to dominate, with Bengaluru, Delhi, and Hyderabad registering the highest number of bookings. Emerging cities also contributed to growth, with Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh seeing a strong uptake in reservations. Surat 180 pc, Vadodara 155 pc, and Bhubaneswar 145.5 pc reported the largest increases in bookings compared to the previous Saturday.

The statement adds that fine dining emerged as a major preference, with bookings growing by 121.3 pc year-on-year. Pubs, bars, and lounges remained popular, accounting for 30.6 pc of total bookings. Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi led in fine dining transactions, indicating a shift toward premium dining experiences for special occasions.
Last-minute bookings were a prominent trend. Approximately 66 pc of reservations were made within two hours of the dining slot, reflecting a growing reliance on spontaneous planning enabled by the platform.
Swiggy says that its Dineout also facilitated significant savings through offers and discounts. Customers collectively saved over INR 60 million nationwide. Individual savings included a Pune customer who availed a 60 pc discount and a Bengaluru customer who received 50 pc off their bill.
