To expand its presence in India and to increase its marketshare in the country, Brazilian aerospace company Embraer has announced the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary with a corporate office in AeroCity, New Delhi.

In a press statement, Embraer says that the establishment of the subsidiary aims to deepen its collaboration with India’s aerospace and defence industry and support its long-term growth strategy in the region. The company is also in the process of expanding its local team to include functions in procurement, supply chain, engineering, and corporate support.

It adds that Embraer has nearly 50 aircraft and 11 aircraft types operating in India across its defence, commercial and business aviation divisions. These are supported by its service and support infrastructure in the country. Additionally, it also stated that it plans to engage further with stakeholders during the upcoming IATA AGM event, which is going to be held in New Delhi.

As per statement, Embraer says that its growing presence in India aligns with broader efforts to deepen Brazil–India cooperation in aerospace and defence. As a result in February 2024, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Embraer Defence & Security and Mahindra Defence Systems to evaluate the joint pursuit of the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) programme using the C-390 Millennium.

According to the statement, Brazilian aerospace company says that on the commercial aviation front, it has highlighted the performance of its E-Jets family in India. The company said these aircraft are suited to improving regional connectivity, particularly in Tier II and Tier III cities, and supporting India’s goal of becoming a global aviation hub. It cited Star Air’s operation of E175 and ERJ145 aircraft as an example of regional fleet utilisation.

Further, Embraer says that its aircraft are in use by the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Border Security Force (BSF). The Legacy 600 is used for VIP and official transport, while the Netra airborne early warning and control aircraft, based on the ERJ145 platform, is operated by the IAF.
