As January is nearing an end, some may already feel disappointed with the new year. We have a list of items and practices that can bring about luck and change, to brighten up the remaining months.
Put a money plant

Feng Shui principles regard money plant as one of the best plants to purify air polluted with synthetic chemicals from furniture and cleaning solutions. It energises the home by filtering the air and increasing the oxygen inflow. Feng Shui experts recommend keeping one plant near each computer, television, or WiFi router. Placing a money plant in front of a sharp corner or angle reduces anxiety and stress. It also helps avoid arguments and sleep disorders.
Vastu experts say plants activate positive energy in our day-to-day lives. They recommend planting money plants inside the house as they bring good luck. They do not recommend growing them outside in the garden, however.
Other lucky plants include the Lucky Bamboo and Hawaiian Ti plant.

The horseshoe is probably one of the most well-known good luck symbols of the Western world. It has a long history of being a protective symbol. The symbol is quite common in Egyptian iconography. It is also known in Islamic art.
The horseshoe is a very auspicious symbol, a charm used to protect against any form of evil and bring good luck. It was considered especially lucky if one found an old horseshoe. Many believe the horseshoe which if found by chance has tenfold the power of a purchased horseshoe. The best find is an old horseshoe with the nails still in place.

Burning an incense does more than spreading fragrance. It is believed that the aromatic smoke of the incense steers clear of negativity and attracts good luck and harmony. Burn an incense while meditating, to awaken the senses and refresh them. A good scent puts one at ease and may also aid insomnia.
According to Feng Shui, two common types of incense sticks are used for cleansing burn- rosemary and sandalwood. First, thoroughly clean the space. Get rid of all the clutter, then sweep, dust and mop the areas in which you want to do a cleansing burn. If the weather is permitting, open the windows to allow fresh air to flow into the room.
Feng Shui directs to put the burning incense in a holder in the middle of each floor of the house if one wants to cleanse the entire home. If they just want to do one room, place it in the middle of the room.

A fish tank will not only get you new pets but also bring good luck. Feng Shui states that maintaining a fish tank or aquarium brings wealth and luck to the home. Most Feng Shui practitioners agree that the number nine is the most auspicious number, so naturally, that is the favoured number of fish for the fish tank. The number nine is the number for prosperity, which symbolises your wealth having a long-life span. The best combination of nine fishes in an aquarium is eight goldfish with one black goldfish. With the combination of eight red and one black fish, the fish symbolises prosperity, energy, and good fortune. The one black goldfish is most important since its purpose is to absorb any negative energy that enters your home. The black goldfish, therefore, becomes a symbol of protection.
Scientific studies have found that fish tanks also help reduce blood pressure and stress.

Having a bowl of fruits in the home can help ward off the bad luck, and also attract prosperity and positive energy. Citrus fruits and pomegranates, in particular, are thought to improve fertility, promote general health and, in terms of feng shui, act as signs of wealth.
