Swiggy expands ‘Food on Train’ service to 122 railway stations
Extends window of order from 24 to 96 hours
Swiggy, a leading food delivery company, has expanded its ‘Food on Train’ service to 122 railway stations nationwide and increased the pre-order window from 24 to 96 hours to boost traveller convenience.
To expand its footprint in food delivery services for railway passengers, Swiggy, a leading Indian food delivery firm, has expanded its ‘Food on Train’ service to 122 stations nationwide.
In a press statement, Swiggy says that the newly added stations are Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, Madurai in Tamil Nadu, Alwar in Rajasthan, Kozhikode in Kerala, Khurda Road in Odisha, Yeshwantpur in Karnataka, and Gonda in Uttar Pradesh.
It adds that alongside this expansion, Swiggy has extended the pre-order window for Food on Train from 24 hours to 96 hours, or four days, enhancing convenience for travellers across the country.
Swiggy claims that during the recent festive season from October 16 to November 3, millions of travellers heading home enjoyed familiar festive flavours on the go, with ‘biryani’ as the most-ordered dish, followed by favourites like masala dosa and burgers. Other popular items included pav bhaji, margarita pizza, and corn chaat.
The statement adds that notably, 35 pc of travellers ordered sweets or desserts, reflecting how Indians cherish festive sweetness even while traveling, made possible by Swiggy’s Food on Train delivery service directly to seat locations.
Each of these new additions reflect the rich diversity of India’s culinary map from Madurai’s famed South Indian breakfasts, Kozhikode’s coastal Malabar delicacies, to Anantapur’s Andhra-style biryanis and Alwar’s royal Rajasthani thalis. Khurda Road, a key stop for travellers across Odisha, brings the region’s love for hearty rice meals and sweets, while Yeshwantpur in Bengaluru connects thousands of daily commuters to the comfort of trusted local eateries.

Swiggy says that in terms of brands preferred by travellers ordering via Swiggy’s Food on Train, Haldiram’s, Paradise Biryani, A2B, Hotel Aryaas, Annai Restaurant, Rominus Pizza & Burger, and McDonald’s were ranked among the most-ordered eateries during the festive period.

Swiggy adds that during the festive season, top trains with the highest ‘Food on Train’ orders included the 12611 Chennai-Delhi Garib Rath Express, 17209, Kakinada Town -Bengaluru Seshadri Express, 20630 Secunderabad Junction- Thiruvananthapuram Central Sabari Superfast Express and 12626 New Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram Central Kerala Express.
Additionally, Swiggy revealed a remarkable instance where 28 out of 72 travellers in a single coach of the SMVT Bengaluru New Tinsukia Special Fare Festival Special simultaneously enjoyed Swiggy’s ‘Food on Train’ service, with all meals delivered at one station, showcasing the growing popularity and convenience of the service for train travellers.
