On a wintry Saturday afternoon, as the Sun begins its descent on the horizon, the tension that had been ever-present at the Singhu Border, the site of farmers’ protest in New Delhi for over a year, seems to have disappeared. Instead, there is an air of relaxed humour and banter as dozens of farmers exchange barbs, smiles and hugs as they begin packing up to begin their victory march home, having spent the past 13 months braving the elements as well as attacks by police and politicians alike. The farmers say they are looking forward to going home to celebrate their victory.
