Hundreds of key events have taken place in the 75 years since India attained a hard-won independence on August 15, 1947, ending over 200 years of brutal British colonial rule. As India celebrates the 75th anniversary of its independence on August 15, 2022, MIGTV brings a snapshot of a handful of these events that have shaped the Indian journey as a free nation. From establishment of its Atomic Energy Commission, just a year after independence to creation of the first IIT as well as launching of Indian space programme, a number of key foundational measures were taken by the Indian leaders within months of independence, showing the depth of their vision and their future planning for making India a strong, vibrant and advanced nation, as well as dealing with political and military challenges that emerged in or around India.
