British multinational hospitality chain IHG Hotels and Resorts (IHG), has signed a management agreement with Rajdeep Infra & Sales to develop voco Lucknow, marking a continued push by the global hotel group to expand its premium portfolio in India’s fast-growing urban centres. Scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2029, the hotel will introduce IHG’s voco brand to Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.

In a press statement, IHG Hotels says that this signing will make voco Lucknow the third IHG-managed hotel in the city, alongside the operational Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza properties.

The statement adds that the development reflects IHG’s broader strategy of strengthening its presence in state capitals and Tier-I and Tier-II cities, where infrastructure growth and rising travel demand are driving new hotel investments.

According to IHG, voco is positioned as a premium brand within IHG’s global portfolio, targetting travellers seeking consistency backed by an international hotel system, while retaining the operating flexibility of individual properties. Since its global launch in 2018, voco has been one of IHG’s fastest-growing brands, with a focus on conversion and new-build opportunities in urban markets.

The hospitality firm says that voco Lucknow project is currently under construction and will add to IHG’s growing footprint in North India. Nationally, IHG operates 51 hotels across six brands, including Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, voco Hotels, Holiday Inn Resort, and Holiday Inn Express.

The company says it has a pipeline of 80 hotels under development across the country and its long-term ambition is to more than triple its presence in India, with a target of over 400 hotels open or in development within the next five years. The Lucknow signing forms part of this expansion strategy, which is increasingly focussed on high-growth cities beyond the traditional metro markets.

“We are delighted to partner with Rajdeep Infra & Sales to introduce the vibrant voco brand to Lucknow. This signing is a strategic step in expanding our premium portfolio in India’s integral state capitals. Lucknow’s dynamic growth as an administrative, educational, and business destination makes it an ideal market for voco’s contemporary and distinctive hospitality. We are confident this hotel will resonate strongly with travellers seeking a premium, relaxed, and characterful stay,” says Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts.

“Partnering with IHG Hotels & Resorts to bring the voco charm to Lucknow aligns with our vision of creating high-quality assets in prime locations. We believe the unique personality and premium positioning of the voco brand, supported by IHG’s global systems and expertise, will fill a notable gap in the Lucknow hospitality landscape and become a preferred choice for modern travellers,” says Aman Singh Chauhan, Director, Rajdeep Infra & Sales.
