Paris Peace Forum to host conference on two-state solution
Focus on promoting peace and security in Middle East
French non-profit organisation Paris Peace Forum will organise a civil society conference on June 13 in Paris focussing on the two-state solution, peace and regional security in the Middle East.
Aiming to promote peace and security in the Middle East, Paris Peace Forum, a French non-profit organisation, will organise a civil society conference on the two-state solution for Israel and Palestine on June 13 at the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) in Paris.
In a press statement, Paris Peace Forum says that this conference will be held under the patronage of French President Emmanuel Macron. It is scheduled a few days before the high-level international conference on the ‘Peaceful Resolution of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution’, which will be held from June 17 to 20 at United Nations in New York.
It adds that the event will bring together several hundred civil society actors committed to advancing the two-state solution and a shared future based on mutual recognition, peace and security for all.
Paris Peace Forum says that participants will include representatives from Israel, Palestine, Middle East, Europe and the United States.
According to the statement, civil society organisations and figures will offer their expertise and experience towards concrete solutions for implementing the two-state solution, establishing a viable Palestinian state, and providing security guarantees for all. Additionally, this conference will contribute to the work of the eight thematic working groups of the high-level international conference, which is going to be held from June 17 to 20.
The statement says that in light of ongoing violence, terrorism, hatred, and injustice in the region, and the challenges facing the two-state solution, the conference will stress the need for decisive measures, where participants will call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and the unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid to meet the needs of the people of Gaza in Palestine.
