Visa outsourcing and technology firm, VFS Global has announced the opening of its first skills training centre in Mumbai, and the sixth in India, reaffirming its commitment to equipping local youth with vocational skills for careers in travel, tourism, and retail.
In a press statement, VFS Global says that the first group of 30 students who have registered for the one-month certificate programme for retail associates will be the first to benefit from the programme. The programme has been established by VFS global academy, the foundation’s knowledge partner, to prepare students with practical retail skills, career guidance and industry-centric training.

The centre was launched by Nirbhik Goel, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), VFS Global, Dr Gayathri Vasudevan, founder of Sambhav Foundation and Saugata Roy Chaudhury, Executive Director, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with senior officials of the academy, says the statement.

With VFS global academy as our knowledge partner, we ensure programmes are future-ready, industry-aligned, and supportive of the Government of India’s Skill India initiative.” says Nirbhik Goel, Chief Human Resources Officer, VFS Global.
According to the statement the program is part of the foundation’s broader efforts to empower marginalised communities via practical education and job-oriented training. The strategy is also designed to boost the talent pipeline for the travel and tourism sectors beyond retail.
Over the previous few years, more than 2,800 students have been trained through its programmes encompassing university-integrated courses, corporate training and CSR-led activities, adds the statement.
