Low-cost carrier Akasa Air reported a 37 pc increase in operating revenue in FY2025-26, supported by a 30 pc growth in capacity, while becoming the fastest Indian airline to carry 25 million passengers.

As India’s aviation market continued to expand, Akasa Air, an Indian low-cost airline, reported a 37 pc rise in operating revenue and 30 pc capacity growth in FY2025-26, while becoming the fastest Indian airline to carry 25 million passengers.

In a press statement, Akasa Air says that it inducted 10 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft during the year, taking its fleet to 37 aircraft and expanded operations to 26 domestic and six international destinations, with international routes accounting for more than 23 pc of its total capacity.

The statement adds that it’s stage-adjusted Revenue per Available Seat Kilometre (RASK) increased by 10 pc, while Cost per Available Seat Kilometre (CASK) declined by 4 pc compared with the previous year.

Cargo operations also grew during the year, with volumes reaching about 171,000 tonnes. The airline maintained an average load factor of around 88 pc.

The airline also received investments from Premji Invest, funds managed by 360 ONE Asset, Claypond Capital and the Jhunjhunwala family and associates, which it said would support its long-term growth plans.

The airline says that it will continue expanding its domestic and international network while increasing operations through Navi Mumbai International Airport and Noida International Airport as it grows its fleet and capacity.
