Paris Motor Show 2024 begins with notable absentees
In perhaps what is reflective of the challenges faced by the European automobile industry, which is fighting poor demand and high costs of transition to green mobility, the 90th edition of Mondial de l’Auto 2024, also known as the Paris Motor Show, has begun in Paris but with several notable exceptions, including Mercedes Benz, General Motors, Toyota, Honda as well as several ultra-luxury Italian brands like Ferrari or Lamborghini.
Another set of notable absentees from the Paris Motor Show this year are the automobile manufacturers from India, the fastest growing automobile market in the world.
In a press statement, the organisers say that this year’s event features exclusive exhibitions and events organized by five official partners, including Capgemini and Google.
They add that through demonstrations and unprecedented experiences, the event is set to highlight the unique duality of the automobile, both as an object of passion and a driver of innovation.
According to the statement, while, October 14 was dedicated to press and media partners, allowing them a first look at the latest innovations in the automotive industry, starting from Tuesday, over 500,000 visitors are expected to attend the event.
With over 14 boutique exhibitors and 47 major automotive manufacturers participating, attendees can expect to see renowned names like Tesla, Volkswagen and Renault showcasing their latest models and technologies.
The event will showcase over 25 premier vehicles from leading international manufacturers such as Alpine, Audi and Skoda amongst others. In addition to the impressive vehicle displays, around 30 roundtable discussions and B2B meetings have been scheduled, providing valuable opportunities for networking and collaboration among industry professionals.
The venue, spanning over 70,000 sqm, will also include dedicated experience zones that feature live demonstrations, driving simulators, engaging entertainment, and informative workshops.
The event begins today with opening remarks by Luc Chatel, President, PFA, Plateforme Automobile (French automotive industry federation), followed by a series of keynote speeches by leading automobile leaders including Christophe Périllat, CEO, Valeo and Oliver Zipse, CEO, BMW Group.
The Paris Motor Show aims to bring together global leaders from the industry, innovative players, and public leaders to share their vision of the future challenges facing an industry at the heart of innovations shaping 21st century automobile industry.
