What better way to become completely engrossed in Vincent van Gogh’s artwork than by simply… soaking it up? The world-renowned immersive art experience ‘Van Gogh 360°’, which showcases the legendary Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh’s finest works, made its India debut in Mumbai on January 20. Van Gogh 360° is now arriving in Delhi in April after the excitement experienced by its Mumbai chapter, which saw Instagram being inundated with some breath-taking visuals posted by some of those who visited the show.

The Starry Night, Almond Blossom, Café Terrace at Night, Sunflowers Series, Starry Night Over the Rhone, A Girl in White Above Irises, Sower at Sunset, and many other well-known works by the famed Post-Impressionist painter will be on display at DLF Cyber City from April 14 to May 31.

Van Gogh and the importance of his work

One of the greatest Post-Impressionists and widely regarded as the greatest painter, Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch artist. In his lifetime, he only sold one piece of art, but a century after his passing, he rose to become arguably history’s most well-known painter.

A variety of physical or virtual reality (VR) exhibits of Vincent van Gogh’s paintings make up a Van Gogh immersive experience, these are held all over the world in different formats. Usually, big gallery spaces are used to host these events. On walls, ceilings, and floors, animations, narrations, music, and/or smells may be present along with projected images or videos of the artist’s works.

In the 2000s, Europe saw the advent of the first fully immersive Van Gogh exhibitions. Similar displays have also highlighted Picasso and Monet, but Van Gogh’s reputation makes him the most successful. “Imagine Van Gogh: The Immersive Exhibition” was the name of the initial presentation, which took place in 2008.

“I have been an admirer of the paintings of Van Gogh, watching them in person would be dream come true” Anas Khan, an art aficionado in Delhi, who has already bought tickets for the show in the national capital tells Media India Group.

Van Gogh’s works highlight each brushstroke, detail, and colour that rhapsodies the artist’s three-dimensional universe using cutting-edge projection technology. Seeing his magnificent paintings blend and evolve into one another while seated comfortably on the floor or lying flat on their backs will be an immersive experience for visitors.

The tragic nature of Vincent van Gogh’s life prevented his talent from being properly appreciated before his passing. The painter produced 2,100 pieces of art over a 10 year period, yet it is believed that he only sold one single painting, The Red Vineyard at Arles, in France during his lifetime. With 200 paintings, 400 drawings, and 700 letters by the artist, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is home to the largest Van Gogh collection in the entire world. The legend of Van Gogh has been immortalised by Van Gogh 360n through the vivid display of his paintings.

Later this year stops for the Van Gogh 360° are also anticipated in Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Jaipur, Kochi, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Lucknow, Nagpur, Pune, Indore, Goa, and Surat. This is the place to be for those seeking to enjoy a pleasant getaway in a vibrant three-dimensional environment.
