1. Mumbai to Alibaug ferry

The ferry departs from Gateway of India to Alibaug, a coastal town which is a popular weekend destination for Mumbaikars. It is a four hour journey and there are modern versions of these which can also transport cars and bikes. Passengers are treated to the Mandwa coastline and the reflection of Taj Mahal Palace Hotel on water is particularly striking.

Through the backwaters of Kerala, a ferry from Ernakulam takes us to Kochi fort. There are two departure points. One is the Ernakulum jetty and other one is the high court jetty. During this ferry ride visitors get to experience backwaters of lake vembanad, with floating seaweeds and flocks of seagulls.

This two-hour long ferry ride from Mumbai’s gateway to Elephanta island is a journey back in time. These ferries depart every 30 minutes and around 80 wooden boats operate on an average every day. During this ferry ride visitors witness commercial ships and while coming back especially during evening they get to see a beautiful sea view sunset.

4. Ghogha-Hazira Ro Pax ferry

Travelling through the Gulf of Khambhat, gulf of the Arabian Sea, ferry saves time compared to road travel. It is a government-operated ferry and connects Ghogha in Bhavnagar and Hazira in Surat. Ro Pax ferry is an efficient option for both leisure and business as it can carry passengers, vehicles and cargo. Along with the beautiful blue and green Gujarat coastline, passengers can also enjoy onboard cafeteria.

Havelock is a tropical island in the Andaman Islands, located 52 km northeast of Port Blair. The ferry ride of approximately three hours, connects Port Blair to Havelock Island located in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It has both government as well as private ferry services. Passengers get to experience panoramic views of the Indian ocean.

Ferry from Jorhat to Majuli Island in Assam is an essential part of experiencing the world’s largest river island. The ferry ride offers a glimpse into traditional way of life in Assam, with locals often singing and dancing on board.
