MoU signed between IATO and NATTA aims to facilitate and increase two-way tourism flows
The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) has signed a Memorandum of Association (MoU) with the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) in Kathmandu, aiming to boost tourism between the two neighbours.
In a press statement, IATO stated that the memorandum aims to facilitate and increase two-way tourism flows and promote sustainable tourism growth. It seeks to establish strategic partnerships among member organisations and stakeholders, while also enhancing mutual visibility in international markets and platforms.
The statement adds that the agreement includes the exchange of tourism-related data, research, trends, and promotional materials, and ensures timely notification of policy changes in visa, immigration, or tourism regulations that may affect members of either party.
The collaboration will also focus on coordinating efforts between government tourism bodies and private sector operators. It will facilitate B2B meetings, networking sessions, and joint conventions between Indian and Nepali travel entrepreneurs. Participation in major trade fairs, expos, and annual conventions such as the IATO Annual Convention and the NATTA Convention is also part of the agreement. In addition, joint promotional campaigns will be launched for cross-border tour packages, pilgrimage circuits, heritage trails, and adventure tourism.
The MoU also outlines plans to organise familiarisation and study tours for travel agents, influencers and media professionals, and encourages knowledge sharing on legal, marketing, and digital tools to empower members, says the statement.
